The questions and answers provided in this book are horrible. The questions are horribly written and the explanations of the answers are even worse. I highly recommend skipping this book and purchasing the LEED Green Associate books written by Adam Ding or A. Togay Koralturk. Either one of those books alone will provide you with all you need for the exam.Luckily the LEED Green Associate exam is very easy! I've never worked a day in or around construction and I scored a 190 out of 200. With as easy as the exam is, this book might give you enough the pass, however the books listed above will definitely give you all you need. Not to mention, you will actually learn something from them and at the end of the day that is most important.
I used this book as a supplement along with Gang's LEED Green Associate Exam Guide and some other practice exams found online as my primary sources for studying for the exam, and I passed!After studying the material from the Green book, I took the two Mock exams in this book as a gauge and scored under 50% correct in both. This scared me to study a bit harder a few days prior to my testing date which probably helped. What may have helped me more though were the explanations to the answers to some of the questions that I answered wrong as well as the websites that are referenced.Both mock exams included in this book are harder than the actual test which might be a good thing. I highly recommend taking additional practice tests as the questions in this book do not cover the entire range of subjects that may be covered on the exam. There are a few that can be found online for free. Also, if you need more practice some of my peers who passed the exam spent $50 for this: http://www.gbes.com/store/products/PTLEEDGREENASSOCIATE.htmlFor $35, I think this book is a bit pricey for only two Mock exams. However, I would still recommend using this book for practice. I deducted a star because it's not a good representation of the actual exam in terms of difficulty and there are many typos and grammatical errors. Within the first 10 practice questions, i was disappointed with this book. I purchased this book, along with the "LEED O&M Practice Exam: Operations & Maintenance" by David Hubka and waited to write the review of each based on my experience with the exam. Though G. Chen states that his questions are designed to mimic those of the exam writers, i found that not to be the case. Some of the questions were written in a very confusing manner and worse, the answers provided to some did not provide sufficient clarify to make this a good stand alone resource.That being said, i did find the questions challenging and can say that if you study with this book, it will challenge you and force you to review the LEED guide books.Bottom line, a good resource, but not worth the price paid.
I used this book as a review in the day or two before my exam. The questions in this book could very well be found on the exam, but most actual exam questions will not be as complex as they are made here. Most of these questions on these mock exams have a twist or trick and many can only be answered if you know the materials backwards and forward. This makes for GREAT exam preparation because it makes you acutely aware of the types of tricks and the level of detail you MIGHT see on the exam. When I went in for the exam today my eyes were wide open.If you read what Mr. Chen states in his book, the exam has to test you on the main concepts more that the detail in order to make the exam and certification legally defensable. I hope Mr. Chen updates this book for the new Version 4 material soon so others will have the benefit of this book before they take the new Version 4 exam.
I got 193/200 on LEED GA exam by just using this book, I gave my exam after 15 days of prep (2-3 hrs each day). There was no other resource avaiable for me to prepare for LEED GA and I relied solely on this book. The questions in the exam were directly from this book.
I found this and the supplemental review guides to be extraordinarily helpful. I read both books and glanced at a couple online documents, but otherwise I relied purely on this books and passed with flying colors. I scored about a 65% on both of these mock exams the day before I took the exam and scored about a 91% on the actual thing. I was more than prepared for the Green Associate Exam and couldn't be happier. I'll take a pass any day! Also, I think that these exams, while not flawless, help you on your way to become a LEED AP, helping make sure you know MORE than is needed on this first, easier part of the exam. I would definitely recommend this and the accompanying guide, especially if you're on a tight schedule (I budgeted two weeks over the Thanksgiving holiday and found it to be a pretty good time table). The questions are too dificult and is not even close to what you'll see in actual exam!I took the tests a night before and just made me super stressed, then i just kept readng other materials and i passed the green associate with score 184 easilyI dont recommand buying this book and just down load many applications of test on your phone.
I used this and the LEED green associates exam prep guide v4 (by heather mccombs) to study for the exam. I passed on my first try. I am conflicted as to what score to give this book because I did use it to study but I'm not entirely certain how much it helped me. The book claims to have questions that are harder than the exam itself and I would agree with that. I did terribly on these practice tests and freaked out, but the format of these questions was nothing like the actual exam. It did give detailed knowledge and maybe I got lucky but I think you might be okay with out it
